After having attended upwards of 20 weddings in the past 3 years (seriously), I have seen friends pushed to their stress limits from planning what should be one of the best days of their lives. Many times, on the home stretch before the event, I have asked couples if they’re excited, and the response is, invariably, “It’ll actually be nice when it’s over.”

Uh, what? That ain’t right. Planning a wedding is no picnic, and we over here at Phyzz would like to help you make it so you aren’t wishing away a big party honoring the union of hearts and souls!

MOD Beauty Squad makes its radio premier as CEO of the month tomorrow on Chat with Women http://www.chatwithwomen.com/.

I’m vacillating between being really excited and having a mild heart attack. The show combines girly chit chat with solid advice about all the things we are trying to get done, how to find “balance” between work and home life as well as fun shopping and beauty advice.  Guess where I come in?

Dear MOD Beauty Girl,

First of all, I wish you were closer…………… I love your concept!

I am looking for good products for my 42-year-old skin. I have sun damage and very clogged pores on my chin. Even after I get a facial, within a week I am clogged. I know as we age skin doesn’t turn over as easily, but I’m confused as to what to use to help that. It seems there is conflicting info out there and everyone is pushing something different, (even the dermatologists!).

I cleanse, tone, serum, moisturize, use SPF, and even exfoliate a couple of times/week but something is not working…

Hey Kim!

You are right on track as far as how our skin cells s-l-o-w down in their turn over. An acid can help break down the “cement” that holds the old cells in place, while helping new cells grow. The trick is finding a product that

A-works

B- doesn’t irritate as it exfoliates

That being said, here are a few of my favorites for great acid products that are a super value and are geared to our, ahem, more mature skin.  MD Forte Hydra-Masque, NeoCutis-Bio-Restorative Skin Cream, and M2 Skin Refinish 20% are all easy additions to your regime which will help speed up the cell turn over process and give you some more of that luminosity you’re looking for!

Glowing Skin = Younger; Matte Complexion shows the wrinkles = older!

A friend asked me today why my skin was always glowing. Was I sweating? Was I glad to see him? Or is it just that my skin is hydrated, bronzed and healthy?

Yup. That’s it. You take care of your skin, it takes care of your looks. And the reality is, glowing skin actually makes you look at least a decade younger.

And who doesn’t want that?

Look at a person’s skin who has put powder on. They have a “matte” finish. That draws light INTO the wrinkles. It makes the creases appear bigger and deeper than they are. Who wants to have their wrinkles highlighted and illuminated and noticed?

On the flip side, healthy, young-looking skin actually glows. That radiant light masks and fills in the tiny wrinkles that make us look older.

So, it’s your choice. Powder up, have a matte finish, and show your age and wisdom. Or protect your skin (SPF is your friend!), hydrate, exfoliate, illuminate, and drop 10 years off your age.

Rock on.

M2 Skincare rocks my world!

Meet my two new best friends, Mr. Malic and Ms. Mandelic. This dynamic duo comes together in the new (to me) product line called, M2 Skin Care. Everyone that knows me can attest that I’m the Acid Queen. I indulge in a chemical peel at least every other week. Getting rid of pesky old-ish layers and coaxing new cells to multiply has kept me looking way younger than my bio years. Thank you AHA, BHA, TCA, IPL and my other hard working friends out there. But, I’m sorry to say it’s time to move on over, because there’s a new kid in town.

After only two days using the M2 Skin Care regime, which consists of a Cleanser, Serum and a Treatment cream, I am a full-time believer in this potent mixture. My skin has gone from nice and smooth to so luminous folks can see their reflection in it. Really! It’s crazy.

What set this combo apart from the slew of same old Hydroxy acids is the natural antibacterial properties of Mandelic acid and the mega humectant element that Malic acid brings to the table. Add to that, an anti-inflammatory Algae Extract that takes the sting and irritation out of the whole thing. Brilliant and magic!

Less is more with this super concentrated trio. Be sparing! Try starting with the serum every other or every third night, and work your way up to 1 X a day. I like to add another cream on top of the M2 moisturizer, but I’m obsessed with hydration, so you might not need the extra step. I will insist on adding a high quality SPF for daytime. Everyday, even if it’s raining sideways, no free pass on the SPF!

Party at the Alexis!

Only one more day till the Beyond the Boa party at the Alexis Hotel! Georgie Hockett of A Grand Wedding.com has done an Amazing job of creating a super fun party. I love that she isn’t afraid to shake things up and challenge folks about what a bachelorette party has been and transform them into a very MODern interpretation.

When she interviewed me a few weeks ago for an article about MOD on her website, I was thrilled to meet another entrepreneur that is so fresh and forward thinking. Yay for small businesses bringing us out of this “economy” and back into prosperity!

So the Bridal Beauty package/offer thingy has been picked up from the printer, (looks Great!). The samples of my favorite mask, (Multi-vitamin power recovery masque from Dermalogica), are ready for the swag bag. And, most importantly MOD girls and I got together tonight for a pre-funk bronze. It’s official; we are ready to have a blast tomorrow.

It’s a MOD, MOD, MOD, MOD world!

Welcome to the first of what I hope to be many installments of MOD’s new Blog. It’s my mission find the best MODern solutions to your skincare and self-care needs.

Really, what I’m most fired up about is the opportunity to share my experience of a gazillion years in the beauty/spa biz and cut through the hype, giving you the real deal on what works, what’s worth the dough, and what’s a bunch of advertising dollars trying to trick us into believing a load of hooey. I promise to try everything I recommend on myself and to always be Truthful and Honest about my findings.
